Michael Phelps and Aly Raisman share something in common that many may not know about – a huge appreciation of sleep.
The athletes both believe that consistent, quality sleep played an important role in their preparations to perform at the highest level.
Now, they have partnered with Leesa Sleep, an innovative, direct-to-consumer mattress company, to share their insights and experiences into the connection between sleep and human performance from everyday living through athletic performance.
As World Champions, both athletes put their bodies through intense training as they prepared to compete on a global stage and experienced first-hand the positive impact a pressure-relieving mattress can have on a good night sleep and overall performance.
“Sleep monitoring was a daily part of my routine when I returned to competitive swimming as it was critical to aid my recovery so I was prepared for my next training session or competition,” said Phelps. “My understanding of sleep and performance has carried over into my post-competitive life as I have been doing a lot of travel and can tell the difference between a good and bad night of sleep. I’m excited to partner with Leesa and help people of all ages understand the importance of sleep in their life.”
“This is an exciting development for Leesa. Ever since we launched, Leesa has been dedicated to the notion that a better place to sleep is a pathway to a better life for everybody,” explained David Wolfe, co-founder and CEO of Leesa. “What better examples are there in the field of human achievement than Aly Raisman and Michael Phelps? We look forward to working with them over the next several years.”
“Sleep is so important to my recovery and ability to train at an elite level,” said Raisman. My teammates jokingly call me “grandma” because of how early I go to bed and the amount of sleep I need, something I proudly own! Without the proper amount of rest, I don’t feel prepared to take on the difficult skills associated with gymnastics or everyday life. A good night’s sleep is important for everyone, no matter what you have planned for the day!”
In addition to their shared belief in Leesa mattresses’ impact on better sleep, both Phelps and Raisman value giving back and are looking forward to being involved with Leesa’s industry leading social impact programs.
The company gives back to communities through the Leesa One-Ten program, which donates one mattress to shelters for every ten sold. “I’m proud to be working with a company that has such a dedicated commitment to helping those who need it most,” commented Raisman.
Aly Raisman and Michael Phelps have a big part to play in the top rated mattress company’s plans for 2017 and beyond. For now, they are both sleeping better thanks to Leesa Sleep.
