UK Men’s Hair Stylist Of The Year Takes His Special Brand Of Kindness To The Streets of New York City


Two years ago, driven by a sense of injustice all around him, Josh Coombes started to approach homeless men and women with an offer of a makeover hair cut. As he cut their hair, he would chat with them and hear their (often remarkable) stories. He began to share their stories along with their before and after photos on social media. By providing a little dignity to people, Josh found that the biggest change was in his own life. He had found a way to make a difference doing what he loved.

Leesa Sleep, the innovative direct-to-consumer mattress brand with an industry-leading social impact program, heard about Josh and offered to sponsor him with enough financial support to enable him to focus on his mission on a more full-time basis. Leesa Sleep shares Josh’s passion and donates time, money and mattresses to help people seeking refuge from homelessness, domestic risk and human trafficking.

This week, Leesa will be honoured for their work at the Bowery Mission’s Annual Valentine’s Day Fundraising Gala Dinner, and Josh will also be providing complimentary haircuts to the residents of the Bowery Mission as well as reaching out to others on the streets of New York City.

“Leesa’s support means that I can now fully dedicate my time to providing those facing homelessness with a fresh start and boost of confidence, and empower others to also give back to their communities.”


 

The week’s activities also include the release of Leesa’s first two-year social impact review and the donation of Leesa’s 10,000th mattress to giving partners across the United States, Canada and Europe.
